How to clean the Sauna Steamer?Updated a year ago

Scale buildup inside a steamer is a common occurrence caused by minerals present in water (such as calcium and magnesium), that accumulate over time on the interior surfaces of the appliance. Scale buildup, often referred to as limescale, is a natural phenomenon in appliances that use water. However, with regular cleaning and maintenance, such as descaling with vinegar or commercial solutions, scale can be effectively removed. Therefore, encountering scale inside a steamer is normal and nothing to worry about, as it can be easily addressed with proper care and cleaning.

Cleaning Instructions:

  1. Unplug the Steamer: Safety first! Make sure the steamer is completely disconnected from the power source before you start cleaning.
  2. Allow the Steamer to Cool: If the steamer has been recently used, give it some time to cool down to avoid any burns.
  3. Empty the Water Reservoir: Pour out any remaining water from the reservoir.
  4. Prepare the Cleaning Solution:
    • Vinegar Solution: Mix equal parts of white vinegar and water in a container. The acidity of vinegar helps dissolve scale.
    • Commercial Descaler: Alternatively, you can use a commercial descaling solution specifically designed for appliances like steamers.
  5. Fill the Reservoir: Pour the cleaning solution into the steamer's water reservoir. Be sure not to overfill it.
  6. Let It Soak: Allow the solution to sit inside the reservoir for at least 30 minutes. This gives it time to dissolve the scale buildup.
  7. Scrub Gently: Using a soft brush or sponge, gently scrub the interior surfaces of the steamer to dislodge any remaining scale deposits. Be cautious not to scratch or damage the surfaces.
  8. Rinse Thoroughly: Empty the reservoir and rinse it thoroughly with clean water to remove any remaining cleaning solution and loosened scale.
  9. Repeat if Necessary: For stubborn scale buildup, you may need to repeat the cleaning process.
  10. Dry Thoroughly: Once cleaned, wipe down the interior surfaces of the steamer with a clean, dry cloth to remove any moisture.
  11. Maintenance Tips: To prevent future scale buildup, use distilled water in your steamer, as it contains fewer minerals that contribute to scaling. Regularly clean the steamer according to the manufacturer's instructions.

By following these steps, you can effectively remove scale buildup from your steamer and ensure its continued performance.
